SUGGESTIONS

REGULAR MAINTENANCE

*Keep a clean door mat at the entrance, to keep away dust and abrasive material from your shoes.
*Routinely remove dust with a soft broom or vacuum cleaner.
*Regularly clean floor with a cloth dampened with water and neutral/ non - foaming floor detergent.
*Periodically treat floor with protective products such as resins that can be disperse in water, self - polishing or which can be re-polished.

Frequency of protective treatment varies depending on usage of your floor. As a general rule:
* Lightly used floor: for ex. bedroom: daily dusting - weekly mopping - Protective treatment (polishing) every six months.
* Medium usage: for ex. living room, dining room, corridor, etc: daily dusting - weekly mopping - Protective treatment (polishing) monthly.
* Heavy usage: for ex. Entrance, shops, offices, etc: daily dusting - weekly mopping - Protective treatment (polishing) weekly.

Your floor can be cleaned for the first time only 7 days after being varnished. Regular floor maintenance may begin after 2/4 weeks after being varnished. Water based varnishes require a more constant and careful care.
Important Note: maintenance products must always be used based on manufacturers instructions.

EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE

After several years of usage, your floor may appear especially worn and damaged. Contrary to many other kinds of floors your parquet can be completely renewed by:
* Deep polishing.
* Replacement of boards damaged by deep dents, stains or chipped.
* Special fillings.
* Sandpaper treatment.
* New varnish.

Deep polishing must eliminate all traces of previous treatments (old varnishes, waxes, any trace of products containing silicone based oils, etc.)
This operation is usually started with sand paper grain n°24 to strip the old, hardened varnish, then completed with sand paper with grains between 36 and 60.
In the presence of waxes or products containing silicone, that have penetrated deeply in the grooves between the boards, we recommend the usage of a fast acting polyurethane base coating.
After a complete drying and sanding, you may proceed with a new varnishing.
